Much has been said about the recent protest movement within the professional sports leagues, with the focus being within the National Football League in the United States. NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick felt so strongly about the social injustices that he felt that turtles were being given better treatment by authorities than tortoises. So, Kaepernick decided to start a reptilian movement named Tortoise Lives Matter (TLM.)

Kaepernick has a personal involvement and love for these otherwise overlooked hard shelled reptiles. He has a pet tortoise named ‘Sammy’ that he’s owned since he was a 10 year old lad. Colin and his tortoise have had a lifelone bond and he has been sensitive to people looking down on his tortoise. But that’s what most people do, since they are usually left than 18-inches tall ….people look down to see them. Sammy has grown up over the years and now weighs 115 pounds.

It seems like developers are taking over nature areas and building homes and commercial properties. Sopme of the land has been home to tortoises for thousands of years and are being displaced by expanding construction.

Kaepernick has taken a stand, in the name of his pet tortoise ‘Sammy’ and is not going to stop until the intrusion of injustice to the tortoises has ended.
