Will ‘Bored’ Steve Spurrier Be The Next LSU Head Ball Coach?

According to recent press reports, Steve Spurrier is ‘bored.’

Seems like he is ‘bored’ by sitting at a desk, being an ambassador and asking wealthy Florida alumni to donate money to the University of Florida.

Steve Spurrier is a competitor and he has been a competitor his whole life. Not being on the sideline, being the shot-caller, and being involved in the game of football doesn’t seem to be sitting well with Steve Spurrier’s competitive spirit. After stepping aside from being the head football coach at the University of South Carolina last year, Spurrier has migrated back to where he should have been all along ….the University of Florida Gators.

Unfortunately, the Gators already have a new head coach in Jim McElwain, who is currently rebuilding the Gators football team in his mold. Spurrier has been relegated to University of Florida Ambassador and Consultant. Based upon feedback from Spurrier in these recent articles, it appears that the new coach McElwain is not really utilizing Spurrier’s experience nor speaking the same football language. In addition to anchor Spurrier in Gainesville, the University of Florida have renamed the football field in honor of Steve Spurrier, their Heisman Trophy winning player and National Championship winning coach. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Spurrier became the LSU Head Ball Coach and came back to play against the Gators on ‘Steve Spurrier Field’ at Ben Hill Griffith Stadium in Gainesville?

The latest element of drama thrown into the mix, is that LSU fired their successful head coach Les Miles, last month.

With Spurrier’s uneasiness and competitive spirit not being utilized at the University of Florida, would Spurrier be receptive to becoming the LSU Bengal Tigers Head Football Coach? Rumor central has heard that ‘back-channels’ in Louisiana possibly could be communicating with Spurrier’s ‘people’ to see if he might be interested in getting back into coaching?  DEVELOPING …..
